Abstract :

Optimum use of water can be achieved in curing by exploring different techniques for sustainable building technology. The process of curing needs substantial and at the locations of water scarcity, it costs significantly. There is a need to save the water and optimum use of water can be achieved by exploring the different techniques of curing for sustainable building technology. Present paper compares the performance of normal concrete with self basis of their water absorption characteristics and investigates the effect of self compound on water absorption of concrete. Normal concrete with M20 grade was prepared for the study. The self-curing concrete was prepared by applying the coat of self compound, Emcoril on fresh concrete. The tests for water absorption studies were conducted in accordance with ASTM standard (C1585 absorption of self-curing concrete is more than that of normal concrete and it absorbs the water in the form of moisture from atmosphere and thus, saves the direct volume of water required for curing. Such saving of water has significance in the and it advocates the use of self mathematical model based on Rayleigh’s dimensional analysis approach provides concise and systematic way of evaluating the water absorpti concrete. A functional relationship of variables of self expressed in the form of an exponential equation which is dimensionally homogeneous .A dimensional constant is determined change in mass of concrete specimen, exposed area of specimen, density of concrete and duration of curing time and the dimensionless parameters are then formed by grouping together the variables of like .The validation of mathematical model is done with experimental results. The correlation coefficient is developed which indicates the best fitting of model results with experimental results.
