Abstract :

Energy is one of the fundamental forms of resource. Energy includes quantity as well quality. All the forms of energy are inter-convertible. Inter-conversions between thermal and mechanical energy has been studied and analyzed in the present work. Exergy is defined as the energy that can be extracted from a conversion system. When the system is allowed to interact with a large reservoir at some reference state, this work potential is the exergy of the system. The proposed research is focused on exergy analyses based on technical and economic aspects of such resource conversion systems and to optimize various performance parameters used in these systems by taking finite heat exchange areas and temperature differences in consideration. The objective behind it is to understand the irreversibilities in the conversion systems in order to effectively utilization of energy.
