Design of a Compact Dual Band-Notched UWB Antenna

Abstract :

This paper presents a compact microstrip-fed U-shape ultra-wideband antenna with dual band-notched characteristics. The proposed antenna covers the wide range of bandwidth over the frequency band from 2.75-11 GHz, having S11 < -10 dB, except WiMax (3.3-3.7 GHz) and C-band (3.7-4.2 GHz) notched frequency bands. The notched bands are achieved by introducing a pair of L-shaped slots on the radiating patch. Surface current distributions are used to analyze the slots effects and notched mechanism. The performance of this antenna by simulation indicates that theantenna is good candidate for UWB applications.
