Abstract :

Although the Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) made official in Brazil in 2002, through Law 10,436, the inclusion of deaf people is still a challenge for families and schools. Non-listening families have a better interaction, as LIBRAS is known and recognized by its members. In hearing families, the deaf member has greater difficulty in interaction and inclusion since LIBRAS is rarely a reality for everyone. Regardless of hearing families or not, another obstacle can occur in relation to the inclusion of deaf people in schools, often unprepared and not integrated with families for a better insertion of deaf students in society. The article aims to demonstrate the interactive practices between family x schools carried out in the education network of the municipality of Cabo Frio. This is in favor of effective learning and inclusion of deaf students, through a case study supported by field research carried out with members of the specialized school community in the municipality. Keywords— Deafness; Deafness family; School for the deaf; Teaching learning; Cognitive development.
