Abstract :

It is very important to evaluate and determine the solution gas oil ratio (Rs) and oil formation volume factor (Bo)and with high accuracy in the petroleum industry. This study evaluates and improves available published empirical correlations of solution gas oil ratio and oil formation volume factor for Yemeni crude oils using both Excel and Matlab programs. To validate and compare the performance and accuracy of the improved solution gas oil ratio and oil formation volume factor correlations, an average absolute percent relative error (AAPRE) was applied. A total of 138 data sets of different crude oils from Yemeni reservoirs were used. The results showed that Kartoatmodjo and Schmidt [1] modified correlation outperforms the best published correlations with least an average absolute percent relative error (AAPRE) in predicting the oil formation volume factor and Levitan and Murtha [2] modified correlation has a high quality and very small error in predicting the saturated gas oil ratio in Yemeni oil fields.
