Abstract :

Loss of water through evaporation is an important consideration for many water supply and irrigation dams .because of the Significant economic loss, a means of reducing or eliminating evaporation loss is of interest for water supply manages . however pratical difficulties have meant that no evaporation control methods have been implemented on major dams There are three principal categories of evaporation control .these are chemical-application of chemical to water surface ,physical-change of physical of physical properties including floating structure ,and structural – principally provision of cover such as shade cloth. while there have been no of application that indicate reduction in evaporation loses ,and there are many product on the market ,these are difficult to apply in practice on larger water supply dams The characteristics and attractiveness of “SAM-PRD” unit are low in capital cost, an appropriate technology for urban and rural communities, requires essentially no external resources ,use of material is possible, needs little expertise to run and maintain ,can be understood ,controlled and maintained by local people, contributes to the decentralization of water management, are able to store adequate volume of water
