Abstract :

Steel re-rolling mill is one of the prominent sectors regarding the secondary level steel shaping for infrastructure development in India. SRRM produces nearly half of the total steel production in India. In terms of specific energy consumption, the steel re-rolling process largely contributes to the total energy input required for the smooth operation of the plant. Roll forming mills have the highest electricity needs, and considerable heat energy is consumed by continuous slab reheating furnaces. This proposed research was carried out with a vision to know the sources of heat energy losses and to evaluate possible solutions to increase the efficiency of re-rolling mills and energy savings.
