Abstract :

Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks generate enormous packets by a large no of agents and can easily exhaust the computing and communication resources of a victim within a short period of time. This paper proposes a method for construction of Network Packet Protocol Status for Detection of DDoS attack by exploiting its architecture which consists of Feature Selection, Classifier Generation sections. This paper is based on procedures of DDoS attack and then selects variables based on these features and shows the experiments with KDD Cup 99 Data Set to evaluate the proposed method. The KDD Cup 99 dataset has been the point of attraction for many researchers in the field of intrusion detection from the last decade. Various Classification methods are performed and on the basis of analysis, the most efficient Classification technique, in various conditions, can be found. The results show that each phase of the attack scenario is partitioned well and DDoS attack can be detected.
